Social justice and saving the planet are *part of* character. Bad decisions that damage the planet or a tiny little corner of it are just as bad as any other decision that destroys value and keeps you from getting what you want.
That is the common wisdom of the social justice warriors and environmentalists - and it is false. Character begins with integrity, honesty and productiveness. It's concrete form is a culture of voluntary transactions for mutual profit that is protected by objective law. Social justice requires force, demands immediate action and promotes tribalism. Environmentalism is no different. It is the last gasp of the communists who witnessed the inevitable failure of the Soviet system and 100 million plus murdered. It's destruction is now evidence by the catastrophe of wind, solar and the proliferation of preemptive law and negation of due process by the EPA.
I see no relationship between any of this and communism except maybe that both communism and disregarding the environment are intellectual rationalizations of ways of stealing other people's things.
Environmentalism began when it became clear that the Soviet Union was going to fail after decades of mass murder and slavery. The communists in the West needed a rationalization to demonize capitalism and further concentrate political power. No longer did the communists claim that their system would create wealth. The new message was to demonize success. The tactic was to get millions of dupes to claim saving the planet as a character trait. It worked.
